Jason Murphy is a sculptor from Roanoke, Texas who primarily works in glass. His background in general contracting and furniture building sparked a love for making at a young age that lead to studying glass at the Alberta Collage of Art and Design.
In Jason’s previous work he has worked consistently with form and profile in making kinetic pieces. Jason’s work is heavily inspired by traditional glass techniques; a historical approach to the glass process has been a constant influence in his work over the years. Using these techniques he creates sculptures and blown glass forms that encourage engagement from the viewer, causing the viewer to break the preconception that glass is precious and should not be touched.
